Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM
The Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM is a professional wide angle zoom lens.

The The Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM is one of my best choice lens when mounted on a APS-C sensor. On a non-full frame sensor (APS-C with an effective field of view of 1.6x) this lens becomes approximately a 25-56mm.
Using a non Full-Frame sensor the barrel distortion will be less evident. Barrel distortion is the typical fish-eye effect, enlarges the center of the image and shrinks the corners. This could be considered at the same time a pro and con of using a wide angle lens on smaller sensors like the APS-C.

Two pros of this lens are the great aperture and the short focal length range. When used open wide (f2.8) and very close to the subject the result empathizes a very shallow depth of field.

Conclusions
The The Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM is a great performing lens with an excellent built quality and weather sealing (even better sealing can be achieved mounting a filter). Is a very fast lens with its f2.8 so you can take the best out of it in low light situations and with fast moving subjects.
This lens can be a great choice when combined with longer zoom lenses like the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM or the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM.

Tips
The The Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM lens hood is really short and insanely wide. You will easily fit the lens in your Lowepro bag, but you will need a little creativity to find a place for its hood!
